Why doesn't Apple build its supply chain in Europe?
I teach economic geography at university and, during a recent class, a student asked why Apple doesn't move its production closer to Europe if the increasing risks. I explained that we're not just talking about one factory, but an entire production cluster involving hundreds of related suppliers, logistics, testing, and packaging. It clearly shows that Apple distributes production based on competence and speed of scaling rather than proximity to the market. In fact, moving production of the iPhone would mean recreating an entire industrial ecosystem, not just building a new workshop. Are any of you interested in this issue? Hello. Yesterday, I read an excellent article on Gettransport which really showed all the nuances of supply and logistics. Unfortunately, I can't discuss this topic with you because it's not my area of expertise. However, I find the topic of Apple's supply chain really interesting. In particular, I find their statistical process control (SPC) model fascinating.
